Nikola Mitrović – Kokan

Nikola Mitrović – Kokan (1933-1997) was a graphic designer. He had his first comic published in 1952 in Majin strip. He contributed his works to Dečje novine and in his prolific career extending over forty years he created many comics, illustrations and caricatures. His best works were probably made for the magazine Nikad robom, either based on scripts by M. Nicić or on Serbian national epic poems. Comic theoreticians are particularly interested in his treatment of national poems, as he managed to transform the archaic texts to a completely modern medium. The final part of his career in drawing was marked by historical fiction comics, which he created for the Croatian Naš strip, as well as comic strips and some national fables published in Mali zabavnik.
